Hair Dye Allergy and PPD: Skin Tests, Under-16s and Salon Responsibilities

About Course

Permanent and semi-permanent hair colours often contain p-phenylenediamine (PPD) and related chemicals that can cause serious allergic reactions in clients and dermatitis in staff. This course explains the legal limits and label warnings, why products are not for under-16s, how and why to carry out allergy alert tests, when not to colour, and what to do if a client reacts.

This course gives general awareness for hair, barbering and beauty professionals. It is not legal or medical advice and does not replace manufacturers’ instructions, your training, your insurer’s requirements or professional advice.
