Daytime Running Lights and Automatic Headlights: Making Sure You Are Really Lit Up

About Course

Most newer cars have daytime running lights and an “Auto” headlight setting. They are helpful – but they can fool drivers into thinking their lights are on when the rear lights are actually off. This course explains how daytime running lights and automatic headlights work, what the Highway Code requires, and simple checks to make sure other road users can see you in dusk, rain, fog and tunnels.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course is a general refresher based on the Highway Code and RoSPA guidance. Light switches differ between cars – check your vehicle handbook.
