Online Reviews and Star Ratings: Spotting Fake Reviews Before You Buy

About Course

Star ratings and reviews help us choose everything from kettles to builders – but some are fake. Since 6 April 2025, fake reviews have been banned under UK consumer law, yet they still appear. This course explains what the law now says, practical checks from Which? for spotting reviews you cannot trust, and how to report them and use your rights when shopping online.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course gives general information based on government, CMA and Which? guidance. It is not legal advice; contact a consumer advice service about your own situation.
