Talking to Your GP About Your Mental Health: A Practical Guide

About Course

Many people put off speaking to a GP about how they feel because they do not know what to say. This course explains how to prepare, what to expect during the appointment, the kinds of help a GP can offer, and what to do next – including fit notes for work.

This course provides general mental health and wellbeing information based on NHS and other official UK guidance, checked in October 2026. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you are worried about your health, speak to a GP or call NHS 111. In an emergency, or if someone’s life is at risk, call 999.
