Tree Work & Arboriculture Safety Basics

About Course

HSE describes tree work as one of the most dangerous industries in Britain. This course introduces the main hazards in arboriculture and forestry – aerial work, chainsaws, wood chippers, falling timber and public safety – and the planning, competence, rescue and first-aid arrangements HSE expects for every job.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures. Using chainsaws, climbing and operating chippers require hands-on training and assessment.
