Transdermal Medicine Patches: Safe Use in Care

About Course

Medicine patches deliver drugs such as strong pain relief through the skin. Used wrongly – two patches at once, a patch heated by a hot water bottle, or a used patch thrown in the bin – they can cause serious harm. This course covers applying, checking, removing, recording and disposing of patches safely, based on NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service and MHRA advice.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course is general awareness training based on published regulator and NHS guidance. It does not replace your employer’s medicines policy, the training and competency checks required for your role, or advice from a prescriber or pharmacist, and it is not an accredited qualification.
