Soldering Fume & Rosin Flux: Preventing Occupational Asthma

About Course

HSE describes rosin-based solder flux fume as a top cause of occupational asthma, affecting people in electronics, assembly and repair work. This course explains why the fume is harmful, how to control it under COSHH – from rosin-free fluxes to well-designed extraction – and why health surveillance and early reporting of symptoms matter.

This course gives general awareness of controlling solder flux fume under COSHH. It is not medical advice and does not replace a workplace COSHH assessment, LEV examination or occupational health advice. Anyone with breathing symptoms should see their GP or occupational health provider.
