About Course

Everyone who works or volunteers with children and young people has a responsibility to keep them safe. This course explains what safeguarding and child protection mean, the main categories of abuse and harm, the signs that a child may need help, and exactly what to do if a child tells you something worrying or you have a concern about an adult.

It is suitable for staff and volunteers in schools, nurseries, clubs, sports, health, leisure and youth settings, and anyone whose work brings them into contact with children.

The course is based on guidance in England, including Working Together to Safeguard Children. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own guidance with similar principles. Always follow your organisation’s child protection policy.

The course ends with a timed assessment. You need 80% to pass and can review every answer when you finish.
