About Course

OSCOLA is the footnote-based citation style used by most UK law schools. This course introduces the fifth edition, published by the University of Oxford in March 2026, and shows you how to cite cases, legislation, books, journal articles and websites, write subsequent citations now that “ibid” is no longer used, and build a bibliography and tables.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course offers general study skills guidance. Always follow the referencing style and academic rules set by your own college or university. It is not an accredited qualification.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand how OSCOLA footnotes work and its minimal-punctuation approach
  • Cite cases, UK statutes, statutory instruments, books, articles and websites correctly
  • Write subsequent citations using short forms and cross-references (no “ibid” in OSCOLA 5)
