Legionella in Hot & Cold Water Systems: Temperatures, Checks & Records

About Course

Most workplaces have hot and cold water systems, and if they are poorly managed legionella bacteria can multiply and cause Legionnaires’ disease. This course explains HSE’s key temperature targets, the routine checks for tanks, cylinders and outlets, how to manage little-used outlets and scald risks, and what records must be kept.

This course gives general awareness of legionella control in hot and cold water systems. It does not replace a legionella risk assessment, a written control scheme or advice from a competent water treatment specialist. Healthcare premises should also follow HTM 04-01 (England) or SHTM 04-01 (Scotland).
