Human Factors & Human Error at Work

About Course

Most accidents involve human failure somewhere – but blaming individuals rarely prevents the next one. Using HSE’s approach to human factors, this course explains the job, individual and organisational factors that shape behaviour, the difference between slips, lapses, mistakes and violations, and how to design work so errors are less likely and less harmful.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
