About Course

Home oxygen helps many people with long-term heart and lung conditions, but oxygen makes fires start more easily and burn faster and hotter. Learn how home oxygen is prescribed and supplied, the safe distances and fire risks – including smoking, e-cigarettes and emollient creams – and practical checks for carers, families and visiting staff.

This course provides general awareness only. It does not replace clinical assessment, training from a qualified professional, or your organisation’s policies and procedures, and it is not an accredited qualification. If someone is seriously unwell, call 999.
