About Course

Northern Ireland has its own workplace fire safety law, separate from the rules in England, Wales and Scotland. This course explains the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010: who has duties, which premises are covered, what a fire risk assessment must cover, when it must be recorded, and how the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service enforces the law.

This course summarises fire safety law in Northern Ireland for general awareness. It is not legal advice; check the legislation and NIFRS guidance for your premises.
