About Course

Not every source is good enough for an assignment. This course uses the PROMPT checklist promoted by the Open University Library – Presentation, Relevance, Objectivity, Method, Provenance and Timeliness – to help you judge books, journal articles, websites, news stories and AI-generated content before you rely on them.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course offers general study skills guidance. Always follow the referencing style and academic rules set by your own college or university. It is not an accredited qualification.

What Will You Learn?

  • Apply the six PROMPT criteria to any source
  • Spot bias, vested interests and opinion presented as fact
  • Judge whether research methods and evidence are sound
  • Decide when a source is too old, anonymous or unreliable to use
