Employers’ Liability Compulsory Insurance Explained

About Course

Most employers in Great Britain must hold employers’ liability insurance from the day they take on staff. This course explains what the insurance covers, who must have it and who is exempt, the £5 million minimum, how to display the certificate, the penalties for getting it wrong, and how it differs from other business insurance.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures. This course does not give insurance or legal advice; speak to an authorised insurer or broker about your own cover.
