About Course
Unsafe coupling and uncoupling can lead to runaway tractor units and trailer roll-aways, causing serious or fatal injuries. This course takes drivers and yard staff through HSE’s step-by-step safe system for standard semi-trailers, the checks that matter most and the extra care needed with close-coupled and drawbar trailers.
This course gives general awareness of safe coupling and uncoupling based on HSE guidance. It does not replace practical training, manufacturers’ instructions or your employer’s safe system of work for specific vehicles.
