Artificial Optical Radiation: Lasers, UV & Welding Arcs

About Course

Most workplace lighting is completely safe – but welding arcs, powerful lasers, UV curing, intense pulsed light and furnaces can damage eyes and skin. This course explains the Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010, how to tell safe sources from hazardous ones, and the practical controls that protect workers.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
