About Course

Abbreviations save space, but too many – or unexplained ones – confuse readers. This course explains the difference between abbreviations, acronyms, initialisms and contractions, British conventions on full stops, how to introduce an abbreviation, when to avoid “eg”, “ie” and “etc”, and when contractions are and are not appropriate.
