About Course

Hand-fed surface planers can draw fingers onto the cutter block, and thicknessers can eject workpieces back at the operator. This course covers HSE and L114 guidance on bridge guards, push blocks, tooling, sectional feed rollers and anti-kickback devices, braking and the training needed to use these machines safely.

This course gives general awareness of surface planer and thicknesser safety based on HSE guidance. It is not a substitute for practical, machine-specific training and supervision, or the manufacturer’s instructions.
