Refuse & Recycling Collection Safety

Wishlist Share

About Course

HSE says collection activities account for a large majority of accidents in the waste and recycling industry. This course covers the main risks for refuse and recycling crews – vehicles and reversing, manual handling, sharps, hygiene and noise – and the controls HSE expects, including route risk assessments and checks for people sheltering in large bins.

This course gives general awareness of health and safety in refuse and recycling collection. It does not replace your employer’s route risk assessments, safe systems of work or vehicle-specific training. Always follow current HSE or HSENI and WISH guidance.
