PRN (‘When Required’) Medicines in Care

About Course

PRN or “when required” medicines are prescribed to be taken only when a person needs them – for pain, constipation, anxiety and many other symptoms. This course explains what a good PRN plan contains, how to offer and give PRN medicines, what to record, and how to avoid both under-use and over-use.

Tutwoo is an independent learning provider. This course is general awareness training based on published regulator and NHS guidance. It does not replace your employer’s medicines policy, the training and competency checks required for your role, or advice from a prescriber or pharmacist, and it is not an accredited qualification.
