About Course

Many small businesses – corner shops, cafés, hair salons, small offices – can manage fire safety themselves using the Home Office guide for small non-domestic premises. This course explains which premises the guide covers, how to complete and record a fire risk assessment, practical standards for escape routes, alarms, fire doors, lighting and extinguishers, and a simple testing and training routine.

This course provides general awareness of Home Office guidance for small premises in England. It does not replace a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment or advice from your fire and rescue service.
