Carcinogens & Asthmagens at Work: Extra COSHH Duties

About Course

Some substances can cause cancer, genetic damage or occupational asthma, and COSHH sets stricter rules for them. This course explains how to identify carcinogens, mutagens and asthmagens, why exposure must be reduced as low as reasonably practicable rather than just kept below a limit, the extra control measures in regulation 7(5), and the 40-year record-keeping rules for exposure monitoring and health surveillance.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
