Electromagnetic Fields at Work (CEMFAW) Awareness

About Course

Electromagnetic fields are produced by every piece of electrical equipment, but only some high-power sources need special attention. This course explains the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016, sensory, health and indirect effects, which equipment is low risk and which needs assessment, and the extra protection needed for workers with medical implants and pregnant workers.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures. Workers with medical implants should also follow the advice of their clinician and the device manufacturer.
