Excavator Quick Hitch Safety

About Course

Buckets falling from excavator quick hitches have killed and seriously injured ground workers. This course explains how quick hitches work, why they fail – most often because a safety pin was not fitted – and the checks, training, exclusion of ground workers and thorough examination that HSE expects.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific quick hitch.
