Health & Safety Law in Northern Ireland

About Course

Health and safety law in Northern Ireland follows similar principles to Great Britain but uses its own legislation and regulator. This course explains the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978, the role of HSENI and district councils, the main Northern Ireland regulations, and key differences such as RIDDOR reporting and fire safety law.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
