Hosting Work Experience Students Safely

About Course

Work experience gives young people a valuable first taste of work. This course explains what health and safety law expects of employers hosting students: reviewing your risk assessment, the protections for young people under the Management Regulations, telling parents about risks, induction and supervision, and why your existing employers’ liability insurance normally covers placements.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
