Appointing a Competent Person for Health & Safety

About Course

Every employer must have competent help to meet their health and safety duties. This course explains what the law requires, what “competent” really means, when you can do it yourself, when to use employees or outside consultants, and how to choose good advice that is proportionate and practical.

This course gives general, awareness-level information about UK health and safety law and official guidance. It is not a substitute for employer-specific training, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment for your own workplace, or advice from a competent person, and it is not an accredited qualification. Always check the latest official guidance and follow your organisation’s own procedures.
