About Course

Pregnant employees and new parents have strong legal protection at work. This course explains the “protected period” under the Equality Act 2010, what counts as unfavourable treatment, the right to paid time off for antenatal care, health and safety duties, and the extended redundancy protection for up to 18 months after birth.

This course gives general information about employment and equality law in Great Britain as at October 2026. It is not legal advice. Northern Ireland has separate legislation. Laws and guidance change, so check the official sources listed, contact Acas, or take professional advice before acting in a specific case.
