About Course

Everyone who works with adults who have care and support needs has a duty to help protect them from abuse and neglect. This course explains what safeguarding means, who may be at risk, the main types of abuse and neglect, the key principles of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and exactly what to do if you are worried about someone or an adult tells you they are being harmed.

It is suitable for care workers, healthcare support staff, volunteers, housing and support workers, and anyone whose work brings them into contact with adults at risk.

The course is based on the law in England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own safeguarding laws with similar principles. Always follow your organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

The course ends with a timed assessment. You need 80% to pass and can review every answer when you finish.
