About Course
Asbestos is still found in many buildings constructed or refurbished before 2000, and breathing in its fibres can cause serious and often fatal diseases years later. This course explains what asbestos is, where it can be found, the diseases it causes, what the law requires and exactly what to do if you think you have found or disturbed it.
It is designed for anyone whose work could disturb the fabric of a building, such as electricians, plumbers, joiners, decorators, maintenance and facilities staff, and general builders.
This is an awareness course. It does not qualify anyone to work with asbestos, which requires further training and, for most higher-risk work, an HSE-licensed contractor.
The course ends with a timed assessment. You need 80% to pass and can review every answer when you finish.
